An exciting new season for the choir . . .

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here.

The choir started back rehearsing in mid-August this year, in preparation for a wonderful occasion:  a worship service to open the Calgary International Organ Festival, Sunday, October 16, 2011, 6:00 p.m., at Grace Presbyterian Church.

St. Stephen’s Choir will be joining five other choirs in singing two mass choir pieces; each choir sings an anthem on its own as well.  St. Stephen’s Choir is singing Hide Thy Face, a beautiful a cappella anthem composed by Calgarian Allan Bevan.  (For more information about Allan, who has won many composition awards and prizes, visit his website at www.allanbevan.ca.)

The worship service on October 16 is sure to be wonderful and moving; we hope you will join us and be interested in investigating more of the Organ Festival that follows (see:

Just so you can hear that we’ve been practising hard to be ready for Thanksgiving, the October 16 service and every Sunday, here are two audio clips from our first Sunday back after summer:

One of our singers, Clare, played the flute for God So Loved the World; we welcome instrumentalists, too!

Inspired?  To join us?  We practise every Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Happy Thanksgiving!
