Radio Nights: Lettice and Lovage

5bivqgseSt. Stephen’s Radio Nights presents Lettice and Lovage by Peter Schaffer

Lettice and Loveage is a delightful comic romp from the brilliant Peter Schaffer who gave us Equus and Amadeus. Written as a vehicle for Dame Maggie Smith, the Tony Award winning play tells the story of Lettice Douffet the tour guide of Fustian House.

Deciding that the real history of the hall is boring, Lettice creates a much more interesting story to tell tourists only to be fired for her efforts by Lotte Schoen from Preservation Trust.

The connection between the two women and architecture is only just beginning… The play will feature Maureen Jones and Karen Johnson Diamond, and will be directed by Trevor Rueger. Performance May 9, at 7:30pm in the Church. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door.

NOV 18th: Enough for All: A Poverty Strategy Workshop

On November 18th, Derek Cook, Executive Director of the Calgary Poverty Reduction Initiative, will be speaking to us regarding Enough for All and laying the groundwork for a poverty strategy workshop which will be held after the 10:30 service. This will be a 60-70 minute workshop where we will be hearing more about the program and participate in discussion groups to brainstorm solutions and strategies to address the poverty problems in our city and also, ideally, to help us discern what our congregation’s response to the poverty issues might look like.

We are very excited about hosting this workshop and seeing where it might lead us. There is a discussion guide available
